Ricardo Fasanello (1930-1993) began to demonstrate talent from an early age, designing and building sailboats, lofts and his life passion, racing cars. Inspired by his affinity for automobiles and speed, his furniture is characterised by geometrical shapes; curves, circles, and spheres. He continuously experimented with a wide range of materials including steel, glass, resin and fibreglass to create beautiful and functional pieces. Fasanello’s innovative approach to modernist furniture showcases his mastery of craftsmanship and his passion for aerodynamics. The curvaceous designs cradle the body, making it as inviting as it is visually striking.
The Fardos chair was his first international success at the 1968 Paris and Berlin Equipment Expositions. In 1975 Fasanello was invited to design furniture for O Estado de São Paulo newspaper’s new office. His iconic Esfera armchair is now part of the MoMaSF and LACMA Los Angeles collections.
The Atelier Ricardo Fasanello has been internationally recognised as being ahead of its time with design and technical solutions, blending Brazilian aesthetics with cool sophistication. Today his daughter Andrea Fasanello continues his legacy with the collection in continual production for more than 50 years; each piece handmade and numbered. Available exclusively in Australia at Mama Casa.
