The Circular Sidetable was created by Gregori Warchavchik in 1928, to furnish the first Modernist house built in Brazil, on Santa Cruz street in São Paulo.

The piece combines the simplicity of geometric lines with the art deco aesthetic.

GREGORI WARCHAVCHIK

Gregori Warchavchik was one of the key influencers behind the popularity of modernist architecture in Brazil. Born in Ukraine he moved to Brazil in the 1920s. Warchavchik is famous for designing what is regarded as Brazil’s ‘First Modern House’ in Sao Paulo, with its stark composition of white cubic forms. His seminal architecture includes the design of the Lasar Segall Museum in Sao Paulo. 

Drawing ideas from the Bauhaus and the relationship between industry, architecture and design, Warchavchik began designing his own furniture; iconic, modern Brazilian design using beautiful native woods and incorporating geometric lines, subtle references to Art Deco.
