The Tone Stool is an exercise in tone, shapes, texture and colour, particularly when stacked. The warmth of the timber contrasts with the stainless steel legs. The third leg of the stool at times appears prominent, or less so, depending on the viewed angle. The stainless steel legs can be also be colour powder coated. High stool is available as a custom-made item.
Handcrafted from solid Japanese Oak, a hardwood prized for its use in high-end furniture and especially valued for ageing Japanese Scotch Whisky, adding unique, complex flavours. It’s similar to European Oak but with a tighter grain due to slow growth conditions in Japan.
YOSHIYUKI AND JUNKO HORIBE
Husband and wife team Yoshiyuki and Junko Horibe create their beautiful designs in their workshop, a renovated old Japanese house in the Gifu Prefecture of Japan.
Their work redefines time honoured Japanese design, taking traditional timbers and craftsmanship into a fresh new direction, open to the influence of international design. The timber they select not only has unique aesthetic qualities and fragrances but also benefits such as emitting compounds that have a relaxing effect.
They emphasise functionality in their work, carefully selecting and combining finishes and materials to create their designs.
