This reclining chair makes generous use of premium Japanese cedar, featuring beautiful straight-grain akasugi (red-heart) timber. The wood has been air-dried naturally for about ten years. The subtly textured ukibori finish on the surface of the mini table is another refined detail that stands out. The backrest can be adjusted to 5 different angles and the chaise includes casters for smooth, effortless movement.
This chair derives its name from STILL (quiet) and SILVA (forest). The hand-woven rattan and natural texture of the crafted cedar wood evoke a tranquil sensation, like relaxing in a forest. Available in other timbers and leather upon request.
It is a work that embodies Wohl Hütte’s dedication to craftsmanship.
YOSHIYUKI AND JUNKO HORIBE
Husband and wife team Yoshiyuki and Junko Horibe create their beautiful designs in their workshop, a renovated old Japanese house in the Gifu Prefecture of Japan.
Their work redefines time honoured Japanese design, taking traditional timbers and craftsmanship into a fresh new direction, open to the influence of international design. The timber they select not only has unique aesthetic qualities and fragrances but also benefits such as emitting compounds that have a relaxing effect.
They emphasise functionality in their work, carefully selecting and combining finishes and materials to create their designs.
