Starting from a structure that is already in line, Lafer develops several different models, using foam and upholstery as key differentiation elements.

Inspired by the Mole armchair, designed by Sergio Rodrigues, Percival sought to create something in the spirit of this new market trend. He initially developed the structure in Jacaranda wood - later resorting to Pau-Ferro as an alternative - with metallic details and arms separate from the base. This was the first of a generation of models based on the principle of using the structure or body of previous artifacts.

In partnership with and his daughters, Percival Lafer recreated with ETEL this iconic piece with exquisite finishes and construction updated for our time.

PERCIVAL LAFER

Born in 1936,  Percival Lafer graduated in Architecture from Mackenzie University in São Paulo. At a young age, after finishing college, he had to take over his father's furniture company, Lafer, together with his brothers. As a result, his passion for architecture could not be fully exercised. Some examples of his work as an architect include houses designed for personal friends, urban furniture designs, and architectural components.

Percival Lafer's work as a designer has left an indelible mark on the furniture industry in Brazil. From the beginning his work has always been marked by boldness and originality. For him, each project had to reflect state of the art technology and deign, applied to innovative ideas. Through his way of interpreting contemporary design, original ideas emerged, many of which were protected by patents.
