The M10 table is the very epitome of smart, space-saving furniture and is as relevant today as it was when Erich Brendel designed it in the early days of Bauhaus Weimar.
Inspired by the strict cubic structures of Walter Gropius’ director’s room; in 1924 he created a mobile cube with arms that could be unfolded on four sides like a flower and enlarged from a small tea table to a dining table.
Handmade to order in Germany. Accredited by the Bauhaus Archives in Berlin.
ERICH BRENDEL
1898 - 1987
From 1921 to 1926 Brendel studied at Bauhaus Weimar. His talent led him to be one of the few allowed to work in Walter Gropius’ architectural practice, where he designed, in conjunction with Alma Buscher, the nursery of the Bauhaus Werkschau (Work Show) exhibition which ran from July to September 1923. It was the first building based on Bauhaus design principles.
Between 1978 and 1981 Tecta worked intensively with Erich Brendel on a faithful reproduction of the M10 which is faithfully re-issued under licence and in series and bears the original Bauhaus label designed by Oskar Schlemmer.
