JORGE ZALSZUPIN

1922 -2020

Jorge Zalszupin fled his native Poland during World War II for Romania where he studied before moving to Brazil in 1949. In order to convince clients to accept his unique, poetical, sensual and modern brand of architecture he had to build his own house. Designing furniture that matched his architecture was a natural consequence.

The accessible wood, the hunger for all that was new and the scale of development in Brazil provided the ideal conditions for his ideas to be well accepted. In the 1960s and 1970s his work could be seen in almost every public building in Brasília.
