A cantilever stool with a seat made from recycled cork. Inspired by the the functional approaches of the Bauhaus, Dutch designer Joop Couwenberg has created a stackable and ergonomic stool that encourages active and upright sitting.

Debuting at the International Furniture Fair 2015 in Cologne, the sophisticated stool also offers fabric seats and is available in three different heights.

Handmade to order in Germany.

JOOP COUWENBERG

Dutch industrial designer and graduate of Eindhoven Technical University, Joop Kouwenberg founded his design studio in Tilburg, Holland, in 2014.

He was inspired by the functional approach of the Bauhaus movement when designing the tubular steel frame of the CC series stools and was fascinated by a concept that had captivated designers from Mart Stam to Marcel Breuer: the idea of floating, combined with the contrasting concept of static sitting to create a piece of oscillating furniture: the cantilever chair.

“I used the power of resistance to create a design that promotes active and upright sitting. The stool brings the hips forward to keep pressure off the back.”
